All our churches are open daily.
Many thanks for your interest, we hope to see you soon.
HELLO FROM BARRY
Dear Friends,
The seasons are changing as I write – we seem to have had the summer in short bursts of very hot weather, and today the sun is shining but the air temperature is lower.
Time bowls on, our grandsons are now a year further up in Primary School, our granddaughters are starting university or swatting for ‘A’ levels next year, and the newest arrival is starting life all over, having arrived on this earth last February.
So the seasons turn, and we give thanks to God for his great gifts to us, whether for family, weather, surroundings or the gift of friends present and departed.
It was a little sobering at the Staff Meeting on 4th September to be handed out potential rota arrangements for the next two months and even a draft for December!
That was only to start us thinking, which it did!
The turning of the seasons is the source of many a song, and as I get older, I still enjoy looking at the changing colours outside, from the somewhat parched browns of the garden grass turning to an ‘ah, rain’ pale green; the dahlias are beginning to fade and the big speckled spiders are lurking on the rose bushes. Their webs will be sparkling with frost soon, I expect.
So the Church year begins to turn around, with Advent in a couple of months marking the new start once more.
All humanity lives with this cycle of time whether it is in darkest Africa or a freezing polar region.
It is quite reassuring to me to have the faith that above all there is the overarching love of God. We may be nervous about what other humans are doing in terms of warfare and the neglect of their fellows with scant regard to the calls for peaceful coexistence.
Whatever happens, God is there, as the rainbows and changing seasons remind us, and to hang on to him by our fingernails is sometimes all we can do, but one day we will fully see the glory of Creation in all its colour and music and splendour.
Have a good and fulfilling Autumn!
Barry
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to throw away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3. 1-8
PRAYER CORNER
“Prayer is a plant, the seed of which is sown in the heart of every Christian. If it is well cultivated and nourished it will produce fruit, but if it is neglected, it will wither and die.”
Please pray--
For our government and for the world’s political leaders, that those who govern may be governed by God’s love and that the Holy Spirit may guide them to speak out for what is right and take action to build a better future.
For the nations of the world, scarred by hatred, strife and war; for all who are refugees, for all who have been driven out of their homes by violence or disaster.
For people throughout the world who struggle to get enough food and water – for those in countries where there is famine; for those who thirst in countries where there are droughts and water shortages; for those whose water supplies are contaminated.
For the Church throughout the world: that she may be a sign of God’s love for all people and a beacon of hope for all who are in need.
For our services across the Benefice that they will engage and connect with people in a special way; and for those members of our community who are not currently able to come to church in person asking that they will still feel that they belong.
For our Benefice and Parishioners, especially those who are suffering with their health; and the recently bereaved; and for everyone who is sick or afraid, bereaved or isolated; and we pray for all who support them. May God grant each of them peace and comfort, courage and perseverance.
For our Ministry Team, Churchwardens, Treasurers and members of the Parochial Church Councils.
For an increase in the financial giving to our Benefice churches.
SAFEGUARDING, HELP AND ADVICE
Safeguarding means protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of children and adults at risk of, or experiencing, emotional, psychological, physical or spiritual harm and/or neglect.
Safeguarding means enabling those who are affected to live safely, free from any kind of abuse or neglect. It is about people and organizations working together to prevent and reduce both the risks and actual experience of abuse in all of its forms.
We take safeguarding very seriously, at all of the Benefice Churches and care about all those we seek to serve within our churches and our communities.
